When you visit Thailand, you’ll likely want to visit one of the many beaches they have to offer, and the Mai Khao Beach area is one of the most popular beaches with tourists. The beach is clean and uncluttered, so you can walk on it for a long time without running into any fishermen or other beach-goers. The longest beach in Phuket, it offers clean sand and sparkling water, so whether you want to swim or simply lie on the beach and work on your tan, you can be accommodated while you’re there. There are also many things to do when you visit the beach, including the following:
- The Splash Jungle Waterpark
A relatively new waterpark, it is located near the Phuket Airport and offers spiraling tunnels and spinning funnels. It is more impressive to children than it is to adults, but it is a great little waterpark that can help your kids with any boredom that may occur while you’re on vacation. With five main attractions and lots of water, this is a beautiful waterpark that can provide you with hours and hours of fun and excitement.
- The Baby Turtle Release
If you are lucky enough to catch the annual Songkran Festival on the beach, you’ll be able to enjoy the massive release of hundreds of baby turtles, which is usually sponsored by one of the many resorts in the area. In fact, you can also “adopt” one of these baby turtles if you like, even bringing it near the water yourself so that you can enjoy the release a lot more. This is a unique experience and by far one of the most fun activities on Mai Khao Beach.
- Try One of the Area’s Many Restaurants
If you’ve been on the beach for hours and get hungry, not to worry. There are numerous restaurants and diners nearby, and most of the restaurants on Mai Khao Beach in Phuket offer a wide variety of food choices so that anyone’s palate can be satisfied. Whether you need just a snack or you wish to sit down and take your time in a fine-dining restaurant, you can usually find it once you find Mai Khao Beach. If you’re unsure which one to try, just head out to any one of the many area hotels because most of them will have the dining experience you’re looking for.
- The Sirinath National Park
The locals use this park as a place to picnic and camp, but it is inexpensive enough to be enjoyed by tourists as well. It isn’t the biggest park you’ll ever find, but it is unspoiled and beautiful, and it is a great way to get away from the water for a while and enjoy some downtime. You can spread a blanket on the ground and enjoy a picnic or simply walk around and enjoy the many natural wonders. If you’re interested in learning how the locals live, this national park is a great place to visit, and you may even make some new friends in the process.
